In a landmark move, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi), the esteemed international extension of IIT-Delhi, has introduced a cutting-edge master's program in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) at Zayed University.
Tailored for Abu Dhabi's Unique Needs
Commencing in January 2024, the master's in ETS is meticulously crafted for the Abu Dhabi campus. It aims to cultivate professionals and scholars within the energy industry and associated sectors, arming them with the knowledge and expertise needed to implement sustainable approaches and solutions.
Significance Amidst COP28 and UAE's Year of Sustainability
The program's launch holds significant relevance, coinciding with the UAE hosting COP28 and the country's Year of Sustainability in 2023. Aligned with the UAE National Energy Strategy 2050, the initiative seeks to empower graduates with an in-depth understanding of cutting-edge technology and forward-thinking policy frameworks. This, in turn, aims to foster a new generation of leaders adept at navigating the intricate challenges of energy transition.
Pioneering Collaboration and Establishment
IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi, established through a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) between IIT-Delhi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in July, marks a pivotal collaboration fostering academic excellence.
Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, Undersecretary at ADEK, expressed, "By nurturing a highly skilled human resource capable of effectively addressing an array of increasingly complex challenges associated with energy transition, we are committed to empowering individuals to drive positive change, spearheading a transformative journey towards a greener, more resilient world."
Rigorous Admissions Process for Promising Candidates
Prospective students with backgrounds in science and engineering will undergo a comprehensive two-year program at IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi. Eligible candidates, holding a four-year bachelor's degree or an M.Sc in specified disciplines, will undergo a stringent selection process ensuring adherence to IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi's high standards.
